Introduction.
D&D Mining Limited commenced operations in August 1998, after the principles of the company had spent over 40 years between them in the mining and tunnelling industry.
The company commenced with the supply of equipment to the industry in a supply capacity, supplying machines for the cutting of the tunnel and infrastructure equipment to clear spoil from the heading area.
The company soon recognized that the market had a requirement for quality used machines to offer competition to the OEM's, as the market was being stifled due to high prices and long lead delivery schedules that contractors could not live with.
Also at the same time, the U.K deep mine market was in decline, and there were a number of used quality machines available that could undergo a full overhaul and be re introduced back in to the market place at a fraction of the original cost, and overhauled and made ready to work in a third of the time to manufacture new.
We supply machines for civil applications, mining applications, HEP projects, and in any application requiring tunneling works.
Our main product being the tunneling machine itself, either Road heading machines or continuous miners.
We carry the full compliment of engineers, and machine operators to assist our clients, and commission and test our machines at the job site. After commissioning the machine our engineers will educate the clients engineers in cost effective maintainence and train the clients operatives in driving the machines.

Infrastructure.
In addition to the supply of the machine D&D Mining Limited offers the full infrastructure to support the machine.
- From the customers pre determined power supply (either mains, or generated) we supply everything required to power the machine including transformers, section switches, cable lighting etc.
- We also supply ventilation equipment including fans, ducting and dust suppression equipment.
- Our engineers install and test all infrastructure equipment to ensure safe and consistent working, and we again also train the clients electrical engineers to maintain and re position electrical equipment supporting the tunneling machine.
D&D Mining limited offer machines to suit the job to hand, where as the OEM will attempt to sell there own branded product. We supply machines from all of the OEM stables, and will put forward a machine that in our opinion will be best suited for the job at hand.
We can supply road headers from Wirth , Dosco , Voest Alpine and Eickhoff. With reference to Continuous miners, we offer Both Wirth and Joy machines. From our experience both using the machines and re building machines the Wirth range of equipment is in our opinion a far superior product, and to this end, we have an arrangement with Wirth on a used machine supply basis.We are UK agents for Wirth.
